Site Design Summary
Maureen contacted me about doing a site for her shortly after Hunter was born. She was willing to wait a few months for me to get back on my feet; so in October 2005 we hit it with full force. Maureen is a women’s conference speaker and writer, and she wanted a website that would introduce her ministry to churches looking for a conference speaker. She also offers poems she has written for sale displayed in calligraphy by Laura Sartin. All in all, Maureen needed a simple site that showcased her talents and her poems.
On a more technical note, this was my first site to build using XHTML 1.0 and CSS. I learned web design using HTML table-based design and quickly became disenchanted with the restrictions of such a method. After discovering the power and grace available with CSS, I plunged forward and never looked back. I had quite a few hiccups with this, being my first CSS layout, and I spent a lot of time learning how to hack around the various browser bugs that destroyed my layout. By the time I finished this site, I encountered a majority of the browser bugs out there.
Maureen has since discontinued her website, so it is no longer available to view.
