C’Ann’s Annual Holiday Home Show
Nov 20, 2007 Categorized: Party Time •
So the out-of-town party was quite a hit. It turned out to be only 2 hours away {big relief} but was still an all-day affair when all was said and done. C’Ann was absolutely adorable. She is a beautiful lady full of southern charm and hospitality. Each year she opens her home to 10 or so different vendors to display their products and services in her gorgeous country home. Five of us set up in the living room with the other 4 or 5 in the kitchen. I had several delightful conversations with other consultants, and I met some really fun and interesting characters.
One of the ladies I met had such a thick, Bronx-style accent that I had to ask her where she was from. When she said, “Nawlins,” I said, “You are NOT. I grew up in Louisiana, and my sister owns the Frostop in Thibodaux!” A long cajun country conversation followed, and I couldn’t believe I had met a cajun right here in the SOUTHWEST. Not too many folks in these parts understand why I miss the trees--they like their view of the sunset here. But Stephanie did. She and I agreed that although we HATE the heat (she thought her husband had moved her to hell out here!) we don’t miss the humidity at all. In trying to describe South Louisiana humidity to some homegrown Okies, Stephanie painted the colorful picture of driving to “Nawlins” and stepping out of the car “into a bawl of wahm petrahleum jally.” I busted a gut laughing at that one, but how true!!
Meeting so many fun and friendly ladies was the highlight of the day. I had a few sales and booked a party, but I ended up with two potential consultants out of the deal. I would love to have an Oklahoma City team! Then I can defer the road trip parties to my team there!
Once the party was over and everyone had packed their goods and gone home, there we were, me, C’Ann, and her mother-in-law. C’Ann wouldn’t let me start my journey home without a plate of real food, so while she fed me her leftover taco casserole from the night before, we cried together over the loss of her 15 1/2-year-old son six years earlier. Her younger son is now 15 1/2, so this has been a milestone year for her. I could not imagine the tremendous loss she has experienced, and there was nothing I could say or do to express that. I just cried.
To experience such sorrow on a daily basis, C’Ann amazes me with her boisterous personality and outgoing attitude. She’s crying one minute and laughing the next, and no matter what, she’s always a joy to be around. I was so blessed by my trip to her home. Now I hope even more to grow a team near her, because I need a reason to return!
