I was so very grateful for the help from my sweet friend Amber.  Amber and I have become good friends in the past few months, and we stroll our little ones around the block together three times a week or so.  We have discovered so many things that we have in common, and it has been so much fun to have a new friend--especially one who’s not transient.  Amber was a God-send for the birthday party, and I couldn’t have pulled it off without her.  Holidays and birthday parties are the times that we feel the separation of our families the most.  Being a thousand miles away from the grandparents, aunts, and uncles leaves us to handle most of these important events alone.  But Amber filled in the gap today taking pictures, writing down the gift list, serving drinks, cleaning up a broken flower pot, and doing whatever else we needed before even realized we needed it.  So a big, BIG thanks, Amber!  Your daughter Kinsley was a fabulous helper too.

My wonderful husband also did an amazing job building the kids’ sandbox, which was a big-time party hit, the treasure box, and cleaning up and cutting the yard and flower beds.  We worked out there together a good bit this week, and we’ve had fun getting our home ready for the big event.  Bill is such a great helper for things like this, and he was right there with me taking pictures and chasing Hunter, and doing whatever else was needed.  He even did some clean-up!

We discussed over our 2:00 lunch how the kids at this year’s party were a completely different crowd than the big construction party two years ago.  All of those friends have moved away with their Air Force families, and now the kids have different friends.  It’s crazy how our circles change in such a short time.  But regardless, the children were such a sweet group this year.  Everyone was well-behaved and had a great time.

It feels so good to have the party behind me.  Now I can focus on the Spring Musical I’m directing this Tuesday!

Hollabacks

I am so sad to be missing your kids growing up.  And I miss you so much.  I wish I could have been there helping you out.

By the way, congratulations on having your children in the spring.  It is such a great time of the year for birthday parties.  My child has forever been cursed with chili cookoffs.  Late January does not allow for many outdoor activities (unless you think playing FREEZEOUT is fun).

Love you tons!

You did good....as always!  I love seeing others dive into the party theme wonderland I so enjoy!  I’ve got a Hat party next weekend for my Emily, and then a Basketball party for Andy at the end of May.  My Oriental Trading online purchases have been frequent also.  Take care.
