“Mom, I chased Karlee at school today,” Will told me as I chewed my Arby’s roast beef sandwich in the parking lot waiting to pick up Hunter after school today.  “I chased her because you can do that.  You can chase people.” A big grin sneaked across his face.

“Did she tell you to stop?” I asked.  “No,” he replied.  “Did your teachers tell you to stop?” “No.” “Well then I guess you can chase people,” I thought to myself.  I remembered back on my own childhood of classmates running around the playground and every word they said was so serious and so important.  It just seems like child’s play now, but those things they do and games they play and conversations they have really do mean all the world to four-year-olds.  Playtime is their life.

Will continued to tell me the whole playground story of who he played with, what they did, and how he tried to convince Drew and Cade to come play with him at Karlee’s direction, and how Cade wouldn’t come and he “fighted” with him, whatever that means.  I don’t think they get too rough and tough at the Christian school very often.  I just sat in the front seat and grinned as the day’s most newsworthy events were relayed across the seat of an SUV.  I love this mommy life.
