Well I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  Ours was so full of blessings and fun!  I’ve contemplated much the last few days about the true meaning of Christmas and how we have ended up making it such a season of busyness.  I plan to take some time to think out my musings through some typed words, to which, of course, you will be privy.

My mom and dad left this morning to head down South to see my sis.  We missed her so much during Christmas and really longed to all be together.  But we did have a joyous time just being together and playing with the kids.  I spent Christmas Eve in the kitchen so that we could enjoy a Citrus-Rosemary Turkey, Cornbread Dressing, Green Bean Bundles, Sweet Potato Casserole, Sister Schubert’s Yeast Rolls, Cranberry Sauce, and Cheesecake Muffins.  Mmm...mm...good!

And Bill and I enjoyed a late evening Candlelight Service at the Methodist Church after the kids went to bed to dream of sugar plums.  It was a very sacred and worshipful service that gave me a chance to reflect on the birth of Christ and His sacrifice on the cross to bring hope and life to all who trust Him.  I couldn’t help but wonder what He really thinks about all the flurry of shopping, wrapping, decorating, eating, and partying that steals us away from our time with Him if we are not careful to protect it.  Christmas always leaves me with more questions than answers.  Why does it take so much out of a person to fulfill seasonal expectations (even those that are self-imposed) in order to celebrate the birthday of one who desires nothing but worship?

On a lighter note, the kids had an amazing visit from Santa, complete with the coolest kitchen set imaginable.  Hunter can hardly be torn away from it.  And Will’s Kiddie Kick Razor was by far his favorite gift.  He’s been asking for one for weeks.  I can’t wait to post pictures of our fun and games and Christmas pajamas and toys and all the rest.  We truly had a magical Christmas.

I sure will miss playing Rubik’s Sudoku with my dad and knitting socks with my mom, but it is nice to be past the busyness of the holiday season.  I am taking some serious time this week and next to work on a major web project, so I’m going to refrain from blogging too much.  I need to capitalize on the time away from school and away from the normal routine.  I’ll also have more family in town for New Years weekend to celebrate Christmas all over again.  Once the holidays have officially passed I’ll be back in black!
