Christmas Wish List
Nov 30, 2007 Categorized: Igununce •
My kids are busily making their lists for Santa Claus this year, so I thought I’d post my own Top Ten for Christmas, just in case Santa reads my blog. It’s been a really long time since I thought about myself long enough to make a wish list. My husband and I nearly stopped exchanging gifts altogether once the kids came along. Even so, I don’t think I’ll have trouble coming up with a few things I’d like to have. And since I love top ten lists so much, thanks to my best friends from college, I’m going to narrow it down to just the top ten.
10. Cold Hard Cash
You really can’t beat it. And if it gets stuffed in my stocking, well, it will go for something on this list.
9. A Spa Pedicure
A manicure would be nice too, but it doesn’t last very long. My feet are what really need the pampering.
8. A Massage from my friend Carolyn
The little 15-minute back-rub I enjoyed from her at Kim’s Arbonne party was just enough to leave me drooling. She asked me why in the world I was so knotted up, as if a stay-at-home mom should not have any occasion to amass stress. My answer? Three jobs and two kids (although the two kids alone would be enough.)
7. A Coffee Grinder
It must sound ridiculous that I do not have one of these. But it’s true. I have never had nor operated a coffee grinder. In fact, while he’s at it, Santa could pick up a Kitchen-aid mixer so that the unfortunate King Cake episode won’t happen again. (One day when I get all the archived articles in business, we’ll have a linky-dinky here so newcomers won’t be in the dark about my igununt cooking episodes.) But seriously...where the HECK would I put a stand mixer? I don’t even have room for the Dorito’s! Thank God for the top of the fridge.
6. The Bedford Smart Recharge Station
You know how much I love organization. And technology. And Pottery Barn. So this is a no-brainer. I would go with black, since when Fuji’s, off, he’s silver and black. When he’s on, I can’t see anything else.
5. An ipod Docking Station
It’s a good thing I got the little green music machine (Granny Smith, I call her) for free when I bought Fuji. She sits there in a cute little polka-dotted flower pot with all other sorts of cables and computer paraphanalia just waiting to be hooked up and put to good use. If it weren’t for iTunes on the iMac, I really wouldn’t have much music in my life at all, save the song of the day I have to make up for Will every night. Oh...and the jazz I listen to from my outdated cablebox while I work on the laptop. Did somebody say DVR?
4. An ipod Docking Station for My Truck
I’m ashamed to admit that when the CD player went out on my truck a couple years ago, I never bothered to replace it. I just didn’t miss the VeggieTales sing-along songs. But out here in the boomdox, the radio only plays when the station’s getting the right signal. That’s reason enough to hook me up with some tunes in the car, huh?
3. A Starbucks Gift Card
I’m sure you’re wondering where in the world I would use such a thing. You’ll never believe this, but our brand-new Starbucks just opened here in town THIS WEEK! And no, I’m not talking about Fredbucks (another link one day). This is the real thing, Baby. Unbelievable. I thought I’d never see the day. It’s conveniently located in the parking lot of Will’s school! In and out, twice a day, I’ll need that gift card loaded to the hilt!
LOL!! I’ll promise not to beat my sister’s daily triple venti non-fat caramel macchiatto with extra caramel drizzle on top.
2. A Housekeeper
I started to mention a new vacuum cleaner here, but the whole gifts-that-plug-in thing is nagging me. So a housekeeper would really be a much better option. Once some dear friends of ours gave us six months of housekeeping during my pregnancy and birth of Hunter, and WOW! What can I say? My house was clean, and I didn’t have to do it!
1. A 15” MacBook Pro
Ever since Fuji entered my life, I’ve been dying to have a matching MacBook to take the same raw power with me every where I go. It may sound a little frivolous, but two computers really do make a pretty cheap office. Sometimes I even do real work on this thing. The 2.2 GHz processor will be fine, but I do need to add iWork ‘08 and Adobe Creative Suite 3. I can however, get the Adobe software at a HUGE discount as a teacher, so don’t buy it at retail.
So there you have it--my entire wish list spelled out in front of Santa and everybody. At the rate I buy things, it probably won’t change much between now and next year, so if Santy needs a layaway plan, there’s time for that.
Hollabacks
I started reading this post yesterday, and must have gotten distracted, because when I woke up this morning and turned on the computer, here it was, still waiting to be read.
I must say that you definitely have concocted quite a list, and I hope that you get everything on it. What a pleasant surprise #3 was because I definitely remember the Fredbucks saga. Oh, and tell Carolyn that when she is done giving you your massage, that she is more than welcome to come my way!!

yes you still need that massage!! How about I drop a few hints into your hubby’s ear?? I love your blog. I wish I could get organized for you have inspired me.

#3 is on my wishlist as well. I’ve already spent a pretty penny at good ol’ Starbucks...and I’ve only been there once! It was well worth the wait!

What a FUN surprise to find so much dialogue on my blog this evening! Sometimes I feel like everyone listens but few join the discussion.
Starbucks has definitely been a pleasant surprise. It seems like our town is definitely on the up and up with three new hotels, a brand new Walgreens, a brand new McDonald’s, now my second favorite place in town (other than the food) and several new construction sites.
